Four Ways Team Building Helps Your Business

There are two types of people when it comes to team building day. The first loves the idea of team building. They might relish the idea of having a paid day to do “fun” things, or they might enjoy team building. The other type of person wants to call in sick. However, most of the people focus on the silly things that they have to do rather than the rewards that come from them.

Team building activities focus on activities that allow you to work together on important tasks that allow everyone to serve as both a leader and a team member at least once. Since their inception, these tasks have allowed teams to flourish and grow stronger and more effective. However, what is it about these tasks that gets everyone improving?

Building Teamwork Skills

Perhaps the most obvious way that team building workshops are effective is their ability to improve your teamwork skills. Working together on well-designed games allows each team member to take charge of a distinct set of responsibilities and ensure that the whole group wins overall.

This is because the goals of the team get placed above the intentions and feelings of the members at that moment. When working on reaching a fun but a challenging goal, cooperation and collaboration become a necessity. When back in the workplace, this lesson transitions over to the companies vision and goals.

Raising Morale

It’s important to remember that happy employees do better work. If your employees aren’t enthusiastic, they won’t be as motivated to work fast and provide excellent results. A team building day can help with this issue two-fold. First, it allows your employees to take a fun day where they can relax and socialize. Second, the events often improve personal skills while working on the team. Examples include:

  • Self-Confidence
  • Public Speaking
  • Communications

At the same time, employees will often receive praise and compliments throughout the day. In tandem, these two forces can make even the most disgruntled employee happy and confident in their place within the business.

Cross Company Networking

In large companies, it can be hard to promote networking outside of certain areas. Many times the marketing department won’t talk to the security department unless something dows wrong. However, this isn’t helping the business function overall.

Having all departments maintain close ties can help in moving the company forward and working towards goals that might not just require the use of one part of the business. Additionally, this also allows for the individual employees to meet new people within the business. This can be good for building cross-department teams or even finding a better fit for one person in the company.

Foster Creativity

Lastly and perhaps most importantly, teambuilding is a great way to foster innovation and creativity in business. You want your employees to help grow the business and move it forward. Think about this example. Tim is a project manager with a new project for the business. He might not know just hot to get the job done.

However, taking a day to do teambuilding exercises gives him an idea that not only gets the job done but opens a whole new line of growth for the business as a whole. This is common in teambuilding days. It’s the effect that taking a step back from the problem has. Once you step back and rest your mind, you’ll find the solution was a lot closer than you had thought.

Overall, team building isn’t all about funny tasks and bragging rights. Both your employees and your business, which in reality is a double boost for your business, will be positively affected. After a team building day, you’ll find that your employees are better able to work together, they are more confident in their abilities, and they are coming up with new ideas that they wouldn’t have been able to before.

What Our Clients Are Saying

Awesome place to take kiddos to use up their energy. Our son is almost 2. What I liked about this place was that we could join him in exploring the play area. The slides are big enough. They also have adult classes. I love their kickboxing class.

Becca M.

I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old. Mornings here are lovely when it's quiet- the 2 year old can climb and slide every where while the 8 month old can crawl around on the cushioned ground. The coffee is delicious too!
