End Screen Time by Empowering Your Child with Martial Arts

Bodies in Motion's Martial Art Classes are empowering kids to take back their lives from the black hole of screen time and electronic devices!

First, Meet The Founder of our Martial Arts Program

Picture
Dear Friend,

My name is Duncan Richardson, founder of Bodies in Motion.

My wife Rachel and I have been teaching Taekwondo and fitness in Boise for over 20 years. And, it's been the most impactful thing we've done in our community.

As you'll soon see, our program empowers kids to take control of their life.
Today, we're battling something called "screen time." Believe me, we know! We have 4 kids of our own.

We've carefully designed and refined our curriculum, over the past 20 years, to provide lessons in character development in every single class.

Students are empowered to be more disciplined...

...empowered to be more focused

...empowered to be more active

...empowered to be more motivated by social interaction

Our secret weapon is that we empower kids to achieve. And, kids get hooked on it! Watch, as your child's confidence soars!

But, don't take our word for it. Read what others have said about our program.

I hope to meet you soon.

Now, Meet our Chief Master Instructor

Master Matthew Jeong began his studies of Taekwondo in South Korea over 20 years ago. Master Matt is a well decorated Taekwondo athlete, winning international competitions in the United States, Ireland, and Russia.

Master Matt also earned his Bachelor of Sports Medicine and Taekwondo from  Kyunghee University, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea in Aug. 2017.

His passion for helping kids and adults learn self discipline, focus, and confidence through martial arts is one of the most inspiring things to witness.

What Kids & Parent's Have to Say About Bodies in Motion Martial Arts

Picture
This little ninja had just turned 3 years old when she saw her big brother take a Taekwondo class at Bodies in Motion. She turned and asked if she could try it, too. Fast forward six years later, and she was ready to test for her first black belt by the age of 9.

Our biggest wish for her during her time spent training is that she would learn perseverance, strength and confidence. With help from her instructors, she accomplished this and more! We would definitely recommend Bodies in Motion for Taekwondo training! -Kristi Ryan

Both of my son's have gone through the whole program to earn their black belts. The confidence that comes from seeing hard work, perseverance, and dedication is priceless from a mother's standpoint.

The program not only teaches a valuable art and skill, it instills the kind of quality of character you want and try to teach in your kids all in a fun, positive and healthy environment. -Gina Cafiero

My name is Fiona, and I'm 12 years old. I have been doing Taekwondo for 1 1/2 years. I like Taekwondo because it helps me develop a new life skill, and I enjoy doing it.

Hi, my name is Wyatt, and I've been doing this for 5 years. I enjoy it because it gives me a sense of responsibility. And, I feel like I'm doing something that makes me a better person.

Your Child Will Get These Benefits Out of Martial Arts

Self Defense from Bullies and Strangers
Our students learn an array of skills that gives them the means to escape or fight back should they be attacked by a stranger.

Our students are also taught how to stand up for themselves against a bully, as well as how to to show kindness and compassion to everyone around them.

Powerful Character Skills To Make Your Child Confident In School

A confident child raises their hand in class. A confident child helps others. And, most importantly, a confident child thinks independently when confronted with negative peer pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Picture
Q. What is the difference between Martial Arts, Karate, Taekwondo, and Kung Fu?
A. Martial arts is the collection of styles. Karate originated from Japan. Taekwondo originated from Korea. And, Kung Fu originated from China. Each discipline has it's own emphasis on physical techniques.

The core art at Bodies in Motion is Taekwondo. However, we have a specially designed curriculum to maximize self defense by incorporating skills from many other disciplines. This creates a well balanced student.
Q. Will it make my child aggressive?
A. Not at Bodies in Motion. Our program gives children an outlet to expend energy. Kids that are typically aggressive will usually become less aggressive. Also, when kids have a place to practice self defense skills on a regular basis, they are less interested in using these skills outside the classroom.
Q. What if my child isn't very athletic?
A. Kids can learn at their own pace without the pressure or anxiety of feeling like they're not as good as other students.
Q. What is the best age to start?
A. We have programs for 3 year olds up through adults. The best age to start is when the student is ready, and has a parent that is going to be committed to supporting them.
Q. Will my child have fun?
A. Our program is a very dynamic and exciting activity. We disguise repetition, incorporate games, and reward students.

At the same time, our program is designed to teach students character. By design, we make it so students have to overcome physical and mental obstacles. There are times when your child will have to work very hard to achieve their next rank. The process builds grit, confidence, and self-discipline.

What Our Clients Are Saying

Awesome place to take kiddos to use up their energy. Our son is almost 2. What I liked about this place was that we could join him in exploring the play area. The slides are big enough. They also have adult classes. I love their kickboxing class.

Becca M.

I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old. Mornings here are lovely when it's quiet- the 2 year old can climb and slide every where while the 8 month old can crawl around on the cushioned ground. The coffee is delicious too!
